For our client in Albion, New York, the dream was to create a beautiful, functional outdoor space behind his house that would enhance their property and accommodate future developments. After discovering our services on Facebook, the client reached out to us to perform light demolition, land clearing, and gravel driveway installation. This connection allowed us to collaborate closely and ensure that we met their needs effectively.

This project involved extensive land clearing of existing trees and bushes and demolition behind the homeowner’s property to make space for future developments and enhance the accessibility of the area.

Project Site Plan

For this project, we are implementing a comprehensive site plan that includes land clearing, barn demolition, and a new gravel driveway installation.

  1. Land Clearing (red). We will clear 4 acres of land behind the house, creating a vast open area that can be used for various purposes, such as landscaping, recreational activities, or future expansions. Our team will handle all debris removal, ensuring that the site is left clean.
  2. Barn Demolition and Removal (green). Two outdated barns will be demolished and fully removed from the site. Clearing these structures will not only improve the property’s aesthetics but also free up valuable space for future projects and developments.
  3. New Gravel Installation (yellow). The new 2,800 square foot gravel driveway will serve as the primary entrance, connecting the homeowner’s front door, garage, and the newly cleared open space.

Demolition of Barns

This project involved the complete teardown and removal of two barns on the property, beginning with the smaller structure. The smaller barn had suffered significant deterioration and collapse, necessitating careful dismantling.

To execute this task efficiently, we utilized our skid steer machine equipped with the SR3 attachment, which is also the same tool employed in our gravel driveway repair projects. This versatile attachment allowed us to safely and effectively bring down the barn, ensuring minimal disruption to the surrounding area.

Once the smaller barn was successfully taken down, we promptly hauled away the remnants to reduce clutter on site. This proactive approach kept the work area clean and also facilitated a smoother transition to the next barn demolition.

For the larger barn, we used a more powerful excavator to effectively dismantle the structure. Utilizing the excavator allowed us to safely budge the barn and bring it down easily. Just as with the smaller barn, we immediately hauled away the remaining remnants, gradually clearing the land and ensuring that the site remained organized and free of debris.

Land Clearing

To clear approximately 4 acres of land behind the property, our team undertook the removal of trees, stumps, and brush undergrowth. The homeowner’s vision was to create a large, open space behind their house to enhance the property’s functionality and overall appearance.

We started by clearing the first half of the land, closest to the house, entirely of trees and undergrowth to establish the expansive space the client envisioned.

Utilizing a combination of brush hogs, skid steers, and excavators, we efficiently removed all vegetation, including large trees, their stumps, and dense underbrush.

On the deeper half of the property, the homeowner wanted to maintain the mature trees for a more natural, scenic feel. We carefully removed only the undergrowth—clearing out low vegetation, brush, and vines while preserving the trees. This approach gave the property a well-maintained, open look without sacrificing the natural beauty of the wooded area.

By executing a well-thought land clearing plan, we were able to deliver exactly what the homeowner wanted: a spacious, open area directly behind the house, complemented by the preserved natural landscape further into the property.

To enhance the usability of the newly cleared land, we spread topsoil across the area. This final touch improves soil quality and promotes healthy grass growth.

Gravel Driveway Installation

As part of the transformation of this Albion, NY property, we focused on repairing and upgrading the existing 2,800 sq. ft. driveway to ensure long-term durability and functionality. The goal was to provide the homeowner with a stable surface that connects the house, garage, and newly cleared open space.

Our team began by preparing the existing driveway surface. We filled in any depressions, removed debris, and graded the area to ensure proper drainage and stability.

Once the surface was fully prepared, we applied a fresh layer of #1 Crusher Run, a durable mix of crushed stone and dust, which is ideal for driveway installations. The driveway is now perfectly leveled, providing safe and easy access to the home, garage, and newly cleared land behind the property.
